HOW DO DEBT RELIEF COMPANIES REALLY ADDRESS COLLECTION CALLS?

Congress has found that: "Abusive debt collection practices contribute to the number of personal bankruptcies, to marital instability, to the loss of jobs, and to invasions of individual privacy." 15 USC 1692(a).

In fact, getting rid of harassing collection calls is what drives many consumers to enter debt resolution or even bankruptcy. So what is a consumer to do to avoid this nightmare?

Most consumers look to debt relief agencies to help them get rid of debt. TV and radio are full of debt relief ads offering to "stop harassing calls". But a closer online look at their FAQs reveals it could take up to 3 months or more (if at all) after joining most debt relief programs for the calls to end. In the meantime, the phone rings and rings, creating mounting tension in the family and embarrassing situations when friends and neighbors are present.

BOTTOM LINE: Check agency’s FAQs, ASK questions and get answers in writing! If your choice of an agency doesn’t give you a satisfactory answer, ask them for DAAN or contact a debt relief agency that REALLY cares enough to offer a tangible, collection call SOLUTION…DAAN.
